Why Kerala has such good health care and hospitals?
The medical excellence of Kerala did not happen overnight. For many decades Kerala has been in the forefront of Medical Education, having well established Medical Colleges, Nursing Colleges and Hospitals for almost a 100 years. The Hospitals in Kerala have successfully treated thousands of patients over the years and, like they say, ‘Practice Makes Perfect’, these hospitals have become well oiled, highly efficient in curing their patients.
Many think that for major operations like heart surgery, the western hospitals are the best. The Company was arranging for my heart surgery in a leading hospital in Germany. It was all arranged, but the Dubai Cardiologist who attended my emergency Heart Failure told me "You have the option to go to Germany and you think they are the best heart surgeons in the world. But just consider how many heart surgeries they do - at the most one every day.” He suggested that I get my heart surgery done in Kerala by one of the leading heart surgon there who has a lot of successful surgeries under his belt. The Doctor he suggested is Doctor Jose Chacko Periappuram.

So, I had my heart surgery in Kerala at a cost of about 15% compared to Germany and my heart surgery conducted by one of the best Heart surgeons in the world. Also I was treated like Royalty in a famous hospital in Kerala, having the most expensive Air Conditioned Hospital Room. The nursing care you get in the hospitals in Kerala is much more efficient and relaxed than the nursing care you would get in any advanced country. The nurses in Kerala are efficient and you feel relaxed unlike the aloof and uppity nurses elsewhere uin the world. So if you want the best medical treatment in the world, I suggest you go to Kerala.
